How much bitcoin does Strategy own?
Strategy reported 847,666 BTC as of September 27, 2026, acquired for an aggregate $63.95 billion, including fees and expenses. Its reported average acquisition cost was $75,437 per bitcoin. These are the figures in its September 28, 2026 Form 8-K.
Acquisition cost describes what the company paid for the bitcoin it still holds. It is different from the market value of that bitcoin and from the market capitalization of MSTR. This page does not apply a live bitcoin price to a dated holdings figure.
What changed in the latest reporting period?
During September 21–27, 2026, Strategy bought 1,665 BTC for $142.7 million, at an average $85,681 per BTC, including fees. The company said the purchases were funded with proceeds from MSTR at-the-market share sales. Source: September 28 filing.
An increase in total holdings does not, by itself, establish an increase in bitcoin per share. If the company issues shares at the same time, both the numerator and denominator can change. See the mNAV and per-share explanation.
Why does the running total sometimes differ by one bitcoin?
The filing reports rounded quantities. For the latest period, 846,000 + 1,665 equals 847,665, while the company reports 847,666 BTC. We retain the filed total rather than replacing it with arithmetic on rounded inputs. The September 21 and September 28 filings show the difference.
The purchase-history table preserves each reported period, including sales and periods with no bitcoin activity. It also distinguishes the period end from the filing date.
When is the next update expected?
The next routine weekly filing is expected Monday, October 5, 2026, based on the recent cadence; that is an editorial expectation, not a company commitment. New filings can arrive at other times. This page was checked against SEC EDGAR on October 2, 2026.
